Paula Deen Museum Showcasing Childhood Home

June 27, 2013

Celebrity chef Paul Deen’s admission last week that she had used racial epithets “a very long time ago” has turned into a nightmare public relations disaster for the 66-year-old. Following a bungled public apology, Deen received word that the Food Network would not be renewing her contract – a network where her Southern cooking had been a fixture for more than a decade. Now other companies — Smithfield Foods, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart among them — also announced that they weredropping Deen. Such an outpouring of support is one reason why officials for the new Paula Deen museum are still ploughing ahead with plans to open by the end of the year. The site, meant to showcase the chef’s life, love of community, and, of course, cooking, will encompass part of the childhood home where Deen grew up in Albany, Ga.

Paula Deen Gets Canned Due To Old School Dump And Stir

June 27, 2013

Paula Deen’s future with the Food Network was in doubt even before a controversy over her use of racial slurs erupted, say people familiar with the situation, a reflection of changing tastes in food television. Paula Deen’s future with the Food Network was in doubt even before a controversy over her use of racial slurs erupted. For several weeks before the controversy blew up last week, Ms. Deen’s agent had been negotiating with the Food Network to extend her contract, which ends June 30, the people said. One issue complicating the negotiations: her ratings had slid substantially over the past season. The Food Network, majority owned by Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. didn’t cite a reason for its decision to drop her. But people close to the show and the food-television industry say the decision comes as the kind of “dump and stir” instructional food shows in which Ms. Deen and others, like  Martha Stewart, specialized have fallen out of fashion. “She represented in many ways a bygone era.”Meanwhile, the Food Network has been increasingly shifting away from traditional cooking instruction toward food-themed reality shows and cooking competitions.

Paula Deen Has Diabetes, Now Promoting Pharmaceutical Throw Down

January 17, 2012

FOR 10 years, wielding slabs of cream cheese and mounds of mayonnaise, Paula Deen has become television’s self-crowned queen of Southern cuisine and one of the country’s most popular chefs, with an empire built on layers of gooey butter cake, fried chicken and sheer force of personality.  On Tuesday, she suddenly unveiled a new career for herself: herald of a healthy life. In an interview on the “Today” show on NBC, she revealed — as has long been rumored — that she has Type 2 diabetes, a diagnosis that she said she received three years ago. In an interview with The New York Times, she said the delay in announcing it had been part of a necessary personal journey. “I wanted to wait until I had something to bring to the table,” she said.

Now, Ms. Deen, 64, has brought to her own table a multiplatform endorsement deal with Novo Nordisk, the Danish pharmaceutical company that makes Victoza, an noninsulin injectable diabetes medication that she began promoting on Tuesday morning.

First lady MICHLLE OBAMA fuming as PAULA DEEN dishes on her unhealthy eating habits despite new book “American  Grown” PR blitz!

MICHELLE OBAMA is now furious with Southern cooking queen PAULA DEEN for crowing that the first lady, a healthy eating advocate who’s waging a war against childhood obesity, pigs out on fattening foods.

While plugging her new book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” the feisty TV chef took a pot shot at Michelle for gorging herself on greasy french fries, fatty hot chicken wings and sugary deep-fried Snickers bars!

“Michelle’s spitting mad,” a source told The ENQUIRER.

“She thinks Paula is trying to smear her and her family just as the 2012 presidential election race swings into gear.”

The trouble first began before Barack Obama was even elected president in 2008, when Michelle made a guest appearance on Deen’s popular “Paula’s Party” show and revealed that fried shrimp was her family’s favorite meal. Paula added: “She probably ate more than any other guest I ever had on the show! She kept eating even during commercials. Know what (the Obamas’) favorite foods are? Hot wings. Y’know – those kinds of foods that aren’t necessarily top-of-the-list healty foods.

October 2, 2011

Denmark has introduced what’s believed to be the world’s first fat food tax, applying a surcharge to foods with more than 2.3 percent saturated fats, in an effort to combat obesity and heart disease.

Danes hoarded food before the tax went into effect Saturday, emptying grocery store shelves. Some butter lovers may even resort to stocking up during trips abroad.

The new tax of 16 kroner ($2.90) per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of saturated fat in a product will be levied on foods like butter, milk, cheese, pizza, oils and meat.

Paula Deen corners the market on butter bullion.

Michael Jackson Glove Sells For $190,000,Surprise Buyer

June 27, 2010

Bidders from around the world bought up Michael Jackson memorabilia worth nearly $1 million at an auction on the anniversary of his death, including $190,000 for the Swarovski-crystal-studded glove he wore on his 1984 Victory Tour. The bidding that began Friday on more than 200 items was “unlike anything we’ve ever experienced,” said Darren Julien of Julien Auctions, which ran the auction at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Some items, like the glove, brought 10 times more than their estimated value, he said.

The glove had been expected to sell for between $20,000 and $30,000. The $190,000 sale price included the buyer’s premium of $30,000, a standard industry fee that goes to the auction house, Julien said.

In the biggest suprise of the evening, it was disclosed the  glove’s winning bidder was Super Diva Iron Chef Cat Cora of the Cooking Channel. Cat said as part of her renegoiations with the Cooking Channel was the Jackson Glove. As the only female Iron Chef, “I thought it was important to add some additional glam to my iron chef wardrobe”.  Cora stated that the King of Pops glove should add both diamond studded  protection from kitchen  burns and knife nicks  as well as an added “celebrity  pop” to her Iron Chef performances. Mark Ecko, the Iron Chef America judge and  designer of the  new jackets for the Iron Chefs was pleased with the acquistion.

Cora hopes the addition of the glove, will help improve your current 57% winning percent, 7th place standing, on the Iron Chef, America. She hopes to use the glove in her next Iron Chef Episode. Paula Deen has lodged a complaint with Iron Chef Producers requesting use of the diamond studded oven mitt in her redneck kitchen.
