Oprah Comes Out of Obscurity To Promote Two- Hour Favorite Things List Special, Here Is A Digital Quarter

November 3, 2012

Oprah Winfrey fans will be happy to know that, after a two-year hiatus, the popular Favorite Things list — which caused her audience members to scream, cry, and/or faint upon its reveal — is making a comeback. On November 18, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will run a two-hour special devoted to the product roundup. But Winfrey’s choices have already received some harsh criticism. Vanity Fair magazine has taken issue with some of the items on the list, like including a $450 bladeless fan , calling it “obscure and realistically unnecessary.”  Commenter’s’ reactions were mixed, with one disappointed reader lamenting, “$88 for four bags of popcorn. Insane!”

Oprah comes out of obscurity on Oprah Network to push favorite things list on 2- hour special. Needs to add digital quarter to make call to someone who virtually cares.

Oprah, The Ultimate Politician, Must Own Up Will Not Publicly Support Obama In 2012, FWFF

April 28, 2011

When talk show queen Oprah Winfrey announced she was publicly supporting Barack Obama for president back in 2008, she shocked many TV insiders who had always thought it best for talk show hosts to keep their political views to themselves.

Now as the 2012 election process has officially begun, sources tell me this time around Oprah’s support will be much more private.

“For 2012, much has changed for Oprah. She now has own cable channel called OWN that has been struggling to find an audience — she isn’t going to do anything to alienate them,” a TV insider tells me. “Unlike in 2008, when a drop in ratings didn’t matter as much for the queen of TV, Oprah is now fighting every day to get people to tune into OWN.”

As much as Oprah may still love President Obama and may support him behind the scenes, do not expect to see the same public support you saw in 2008. As my source puts it, “Helping a friend keep the most important job in the world is great, but making sure her OWN network thrives is now her priority.”

Oprah Puts Together Biggest Contest Of All Eternity

April 15, 2011

The Onion News Network humorously reports that Oprah will allow her fans to demonstrate their loyalty with the ultimate sacrifice: “being entombed alongside her in The Oprahmidion where they will bask in her wisdom for eternity.”

Fans couldn’t believe they’re good fortune as most assumed the prize would just be a new car. Fans of Oprah can follow her to the afterlife.

Oprah and Own Channel Have Ratings 10% Lower Than Discovery Health, Awkward

March 1, 2011

The OWN channel, which launched two months ago, is being watched by only 135,000 people at any one time.

The ratings are 10 per cent lower than for the cable channel it replaced which was called Discovery Health.

And only 45,000 of those watching are women aged 25 to 54, the audience the channel is being aimed at.

Miss Winfrey, 57, has urged patience and supporters say ratings will improve when the chat show host begins appearing more regularly herself towards the end of the year.

She will still be busy filming “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for the ABC network until September, but will then be able to devote more time to her own channel. That will include having her own show two or three nights a week.

Awkward……

Oprah Winfrey Takes Ownership Of Own Channel, Viewership Falls As She Sinks The Discovery Channel

January 21, 2011

NEW YORK – After a strong opening at the beginning of the year, ratings for OWN, the cable network joint venture of Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications, have declined, with shows with Winfrey’s name in the title remaining its strongest performers.

For its second week, ratings for OWN fell about 20 percent among its target demo of women over 25 years old, according to the New York Post. The average audience in prime time was 310,000 people.

Discovery and Winfrey have predicted bumps in the road, and most experts expected ratings to come down from a strong start.

OWN viewership so far is “a little lower than I’d thought it would be, but I don’t think it’s alarming,” advertising expert Brad Adgate of Horizon Media told the Post. He pointed to network and cable series premieres this month, which are likely to affect OWN’s performance.

Oprah Victimizes Her Victimized Fan Base Now For A Fee

January 3, 2011

A day after the launch of her ambitious new TV network, the message board on Oprah Winfrey’s website was flooded with posts from fans upset that they now have to pay to see the talk show queen.

“Cannot believe Oprah would launch a new show on a cable channel that is not part of the basic service,” wrote a fan tagged johnjanesmith.

“She will be losing some of her most loyal fans because they either do not have cable or they have basic cable. I have basic cable and do not plan on changing my cable service.

“Oprah has lost me as I am sure many other people. Too bad that she didn’t look into a channel that would serve everyone.”

“I am very disappointed that I will not be able to watch Oprah (whom I love),” wrote lvtootsie. “I cannot afford to pay the extra monthly fee.”

But there were also scores of comments from fans locked out because they either do not subscribe to cable or cannot afford to upgrade from basic service, which does not include OWN. Oprah who has profitted on the victimized and misfortunate  for years, now provides upgraded emotional support for a fee.

Oprah Winfrey Audience Living Large In Australia, Australia Tourism Minister And IRS On Standby

December 7, 2010

Oprah Winfrey’s giddy audience of 300 arrived in Australia from the U.S. on Tuesday to begin enjoying the talk show queen’s ultimate giveaway – an eight-day journey across the land Down Under.

Winfrey kicked off her 25th and final season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in September by surprising her shrieking, jumping and sobbing fans with what she’s billed as the trip of a lifetime. The hand-picked audience was made up of some of who the program called its most loyal viewers over the years.

The itinerary for “Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure” had been kept a closely guarded secret, with audience members still left in the dark upon their arrival in Sydney. But travel details finally released by Australia’s tourism minister later Tuesday reveal a sweeping adventure in store for Winfrey’s fans, with trips planned to each of the country’s eight states and territories.

“I would have never thought little bitty ol’ me would ever have this opportunity,” Orlando Bogins of Detroit said as he arrived at Sydney’s airport. “It came at such a very hard time in my life – my mom had nine hours (of) surgery, I was laid off from my job and my house had been broken into. So we had all of that happen, and then I got notification that I was selected to go on the Oprah show.”

Oprah Gives Away Trips To Australia, IRS Works To Calculate Gift Taxes On Celebrity Pilots

September 14, 2010
Oprah kicks off season 25 with a surprise trip for audience members!
Oprah Winfrey kicked off her farewell Season in true Oprah fashion by surprising her audience with a big gift: She will be taking all 300 audience members on a trip down under to Australia.

“We’re…going…to…AUSTRALIA!!!!” Oprah announced to a shrieking crowd as confetti fell and her set was transformed into a mini airport, complete with a plane and worker with glow sticks to guide it on to the set.

But that was not the end of the surprises for the audience.

“Let’s say hello again to captain (John) Travolta,” Oprah said, as she introduced the celebrity pilot of their trip. Travolta is a licensed Quantas Airline pilot and has been helping Oprah plan the trip for over a year.

IRS on high alert to calculate taxes on trips for studio audience as well as special section on calculating taxes on added value of celebrity pilots..Much like Oprah’s car give aways, gift taxes will especially hit winners “down under”.
