Matt Damon Support For Public Schools, Mission Accomplished Moment, Sends His Kids To Private School

August 8, 2013

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday criticized actor Matt Damon, a vocal public-school advocate, for sending his children to private school. In a weekend interview with The Guardian, Damon, who recently relocated his family from New York to Los Angeles, said the L.A. public school system didn’t offer the kind of “progressive education” he wanted for his kids.“Sending our kids in my family to private school was a big, big, big deal,” he said. “And it was a giant family discussion. But it was a circular conversation, really, because ultimately we don’t have a choice. And from the time I went to kindergarten through my senior year in high school, I went to public schools. I wouldn’t trade that education and experience for anything.”

Matt Damon Not A Fan Of The Mandates

March 3, 2011

This is not the man he voted for.

Matt Damon sat down with Piers Morgan for an interview that will air Thursday night, and among other things, talked about his feelings on the first two years of President Obama’s administration. During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Damon was a vocal Obama supporter, campaigning for the then-candidate at rallies, promoting him through a MoveOn video contest and attending fundraisers for him.

Now, he’s not so enthused about Obama. When asked if he was happy with the way the President is running the country, Damon said, point blank, “no.”

“I really think he misinterpreted his mandate. A friend of mine said to me the other day, I thought it was a great line, ‘I no longer hope for audacity,'” Damon said.

Matt Damon no longer hopes for audacity. Hates the mandates.

True Grit Matt Damon More Into Easy Listening 70’s Abs

January 4, 2011

“True Grit,” directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, is garnering rave reviews and big bucks at the box office. Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld all turn in impressive performances. However it’s a little-known member of the crew with a curious job title that has people talking.

Stick around and watch the credits of the western remake and you’ll see something that might make you choke on your popcorn. In the editorial section of the scroll, right under “Post Production Assistant,” is a far more interesting job title: “Mr. Damon’s Abs Double.

So, is this a wacky Coen-brothers joke? Actually, it’s more of a Coen kid joke. The person credited is Buster Coen, 15-year-old son of Ethan Coen.

Industry expert Scott Feinberg spoke with Damon at an event and asked about the mysterious abs double. Damon explained that Buster “had served as an assistant to the script supervisor on the set during the making of the film, but had indicated that he wanted a more important-sounding credit than that, and had apparently requested that one!”

Damon did disclose that he was concerned about his abs but felt they were  not so much an issue since his character played by Glen Campbell in the original movie, was not so much into hard rock  abs but more into easy listening 70’s abs.
