Eye View Fashion… I’m Too Sexy For My House

January 8, 2013

Bizarre hats made out of wooden planks, models with ‘blacked out’ faces, and some ankle swinging sportswear were among some of the truly outlandish designs which kicked off Men’s fashion week. As models dressed in outlandish outfits stalked the catwalk, British Fashion Council member David Gandy said he wants to make London the menswear capital of the world. While the day started  sensibly enough, withRoyal College Of Art graduate Lou  Dalton’s collection featuring boiled  wool and tartan trousers, things took a  slightly odd turn when   models dressed in dark workhouse greys  paraded down the catwalk wearing hats  and bizarre facial contraptions  made of splintered planks of wood.

Eye View Fashion….. Fake Braces In The Name of Style

January 3, 2013

And so it begins. Just two days into 2013 and we already have a contender for this year’s most peculiar global fashion trends. This one comes to us from southeast Asia, where teens are sporting fake braces all in the name of style. While the trend may not be new — it was first reported in 2006, having sprung up in Thailand — it has since spread across the region to countries like Indonesia and China where teenagers are buying black-market braces for about $100 a pop.

Eye View Fashion, Tennis Ball Dress, One Snap

June 18, 2011

Not only is American tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands ahead of Venus Williams in the WTA rankings, she’s also managed to surpass the elder Williams sister in terms of outrageous outfits. The 31st-ranked Mattek-Sands turned heads at Thursday night’s Wimbledon player’s party in a dress designed by Lady Gaga’s designer, Alex Noble.

The neon yellow dress featured a corset with attached tennis balls, a flowing skirt and a headdress that wouldn’t have been out of place at the royal wedding.

December 19, 2010

It’s a fashion first . . . lady. Michelle Obama is once again setting the style world abuzz — wearing a thrift-store dress to the “Christmas in Washington” concert, which was taped Sunday and airs on TNT tonight. The “couture” black-lace overlay frock, featuring a high, square neckline and a full skirt was plucked from New York Vintage in Chelsea. The secondhand 1950s piece — believed to be the first vintage dress worn by a first lady to a public event — was made by American designer Norman Norelli, who died in 1972 and was among the most influential designers of his time. ap Michelle Obama The store’s owners would not say how much the first lady paid for the dress, but prices for vintage clothing have risen dramatically as quality pieces have become wildly popular among celebrities and on the red carpet. One estimate for this hand-me-down was $2,500.
