Sunderland said he didn’t initially get many bites. But Magnetic Entertainment of Studio City, Calif., is already promoting “Adventures in Sunderland” and “Abby’s Journey,” a documentary, on its Web site.

Eye View Hollywood,Diddy’s $360,000 Maybach Birthday Gift To Son Questioned On ‘Nightline’

June 13, 2010

When asked by Martin Bashir, if he enjoyed being a dad, Diddy said yes, but admitted that it was the area that he did not consider himself most successful, citing that his kids “deserved more (of his) personal time.”That response jump-started a series of questions about Diddy’s parental discretion that made the hip-hop figure visibly annoyed at times.

Bashir suggested that Diddy was setting a bad example as a role model by having six kids by multiple women.

Diddy defended himself, saying, “All of my kids are taken care of. They all go to the best schools.” Bashir quipped, “But you don’t live with them.”  Nightline aired footage of the VH1 show My Super Sweet 16, celebrating Diddy’s son Justin.

That episode made the news when it aired in February because Diddy gave Justin a Maybach car worth more than $360,000. Bashir asked Diddy what many people wanted to know — “Do you think it was appropriate to buy your 16-year-old son a Maybach car worth almost $400,000?”When Bashir asked if giving such a lavish gift imposed a “sensible lesson,” Diddy said, “I feel the way I raise my children, you know, I don’t have to explain to you or anybody else because nobody knows the way I raise my children.” “It’s what I wanted to do. I can do whatever I want to do with my children. And you can’t question me about it. Nobody can question me about what I do with my children.”

Maybe Diddy should have gotten  Justin a $200,000 boat?

French fishing boat rescues stranded Calif. Teen, French Fishing Captain said “Je voudrais personnes regardent leurs enfants!”

June 12, 2010

A French fishing vessel rescued a California teenager Saturday from her crippled sailboat in the turbulent southern Indian Ocean, bringing relief to her family but ending her around-the-world sailing effort.

Laurence Sunderland, the father of 16-year-old Abby Sunderland, told reporters outside his home that the Australian Maritime Safety Authority had contacted him to confirm the rescue more than 2,000 miles from the western Australia coast.

“She got out of her vessel with the clothes on her back, and we are just really excited and ecstatic that Abigail is in safe hands,” he said. “She was in good spirits … She talked to her mother.”

Sunderland has been stranded in heavy seas since Thursday, when she set off a distress signal after the mast collapsed, knocking out her satellite communications. The elder Sunderland said the family was not going to elaborate on the problems that led to the emergency.

The Australian group said the French ship Ile De La Reunion brought Sunderland on board from her stricken craft Saturday afternoon at the site (about 2:45 a.m. PDT).

French authorities called it a “delicate operation” and at one point the fishing boat’s captain fell into the ocean. “He was fished out in difficult conditions” and is in good health, said a statement from the French territory of Reunion Island. The French Captain visibly upset said,

“Je voudrais les gens prendrait soin de leurs petits enfants. Je suis presque noyé sauver certains californien le gosse. Elle était si faible si elle était un poisson, j’aurais jeté son retour dans… C’était mon plus meurtrière capture..”

Spokesman:Trip likely over for US teen sailor,AAA On The Way

June 11, 2010

THOUSAND OAKS, California (AP)—A 16-year-old California girl who is awaiting rescue in the Indian Ocean aboard her storm-damaged yacht will likely give up on her dream of sailing solo around the world, a familyspokesman said Friday.

“This is the end of the dream. There’s no boat to sail,” he said

Sunderland set off a distress beacon when her sailboat became damaged by 30-foot (9-meter) waves.

Her boat’s mast was broken—ruining satellite phone reception—and was dragging with the sail in the ocean, said search coordinator Mick Kinley, acting chief of the Australia Maritime Safety Authority that chartered a commercial jet for the search.

But the keel was intact, the yacht was not taking on water and Sunderland was equipped for the conditions, he said.

“The aircraft (crew) spoke to her. They told her help was on the way and she sounds like she’s in good health,” Kinley told reporters in Canberra.

“She’s going to hang in there until a vessel can get to her.”

AAA said they would be sending a boat and would be there in the standard 45 minutes. State Farm will access the damage. State Farm spokesperson said privately, “she is a female driver so we expect her rates to go up a little.” Unfortunately we see this all the time around prom time.” Family spokesman said that Abby was bad about sailing and texting.. Her dad said the yacht would be parked in the garage for an undisclosed length of time..
