Gates Argues For Unlimited High Tech Work Visas Then Lays Off 18,000 Any Ideas?

July 18, 2014

On Thursday, a week after former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates argued for amnesty and for an unlimited number of high-tech guest-worker visas, Microsoft announced it would slash 18,000 jobs. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella promised his employees that “we will go through this process in the most thoughtful and transparent way possible.” Analysts told USA Today that the number being let go was “larger than expected.”The “vast majority” of employees will reportedly be notified “within the next six months” and “earn severance and job transition help in many locations.” Microsoft employs 125,000 people. However, numerous nonpartisan scholars and studies have determined that there is a surplus – not a shortage – of American high-tech workers. Microsoft lays off 18,000 workers any ideas?

California Approves Water School Detention Buying Yourself Another Saturday

July 18, 2014

On Tuesday, the California State Water Resources Control Board voted to approve fines of up to $500 a day for overuse of water, in an effort to penalize those who do not conserve amidst the state’s crippling drought. Now, Santa Cruz residents with hefty water fines can attend the Santa Cruz Water School, a free, one-time class that, if completed successfully, eliminates all water penalties outright. “We don’t want to penalize people,” Santa Cruz Water District spokeswoman Eileen Cross told KSBW. “We want to educate people, because water is so precious and we all need to do everything we can to conserve, and so it’s an opportunity for us to educate the public.”According to the San Francisco Chronicle, areas of focus include instruction on finding water meters, the severity of California’s drought, and “Basics of Municipal Utilities Services.” State of California approves a water school detention.

LA Homeless Activist Thinks US Policy Like Dysfunctional Father

July 16, 2014

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has convened with nonprofit groups to shelter undocumented immigrant children in L.A. while they await court hearings on whether they can remain in the United States. KCAL9′s Bobby Kaple reports Garcetti said at a forum Tuesday the Department of Health and Human Services reached out to him about the possibility as federal authorities grapple with where to place undocumented children, fueling an ongoing debate about the nation’s immigration policies, which have led to rallies in Murrieta and across the Southland this month. Homeless activist Ted Hayes, who has lived in L.A. for three decades, opposes the idea, insisting there are American kids on city streets who need help first.“It’s kind of a slap in the face to U.S. citizens,” Hayes said. “It’s embarrassing. It’s hurtful. Because it’s like a father saying that he loves children outside of the family more than he loves his own.” LA homeless activist thinks US like dysfunctional father.

LA Attorney Seeks Injunction on 1st Ever City Pot Farmers Market Fighting Public Nuisance

July 15, 2014

The Los Angeles city attorney is seeking an injunction to stop what’s being dubbed as the city’s first-ever cannabis-centric farmers market, which opened for business over the Fourth of July weekend. The medical marijuana market opened July 4-6 inside a Boyle Heights warehouse and continued to operate this past weekend, following its successful start. But City Atty. Mike Feuer says his office will request a temporary restraining order to stop operations. “We’re fighting to stop this end-run around the will of the voters who enacted Proposition D,” Feuer said in a statement. “We allege these events also violate city land-use law and are causing a public nuisance. We will do everything we can to put a halt to them. LA attorney fighting the good fight against public nuisance.

July 15, 2014

California has now passed legislation that eliminates the words “husband” and “wife” from state laws. As reported in The Huffington Post, “California’s same-sex couples may now be pronounced spouse and spouse after Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed a bill [last] Monday eliminating outdated ‘husband and wife’ references from state laws.” The Post also explained that, “Senate Bill 1306 was introduced by state Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) to eliminate confusion and correct discriminatory phrasing in the California Constitution that contradicts state law.” Jerry Brown bans the discriminatory terms husband and wife from state law. Ask The Eye Long Lost Twin Or Dead Ringer

July 14, 2014

Dear Eye View

I recently applied for a job as the assistant director at a well-regarded art gallery. In a pre-interview phone call with the director, she told me that my credentials were an excellent match with the position and set up an interview. The minute I walked in the gallery and introduced myself at the reception desk, I started getting weird vibes and worse. Employees, including the director, stepped back when they saw me, or gasped, or fled. I checked my appearance in the bathroom and found nothing amiss. Except for this, the interview itself went fine, from my perspective, but I didn’t get the job. I asked a friend at another gallery if she knew who did get it, and it turned out to be a guy fresh out of college. Because of the gap between his credentials and mine, I decided to write to the director and ask her if she could shed some light on the situation. Surprisingly, she said she’d meet me for coffee to discuss it. She told me that the person who previously held the job looked just like me, was a dead ringer for me, in fact, and in fact was dead. The other employees had pleaded with her not to hire me. I looked him up online and saw pictures that shocked me as well as my younger sister. From his obituary I learned he had died in a car accident three months ago, and he was my age. At first I thought I could make some sort of hiring complaint, but obviously I would never fit in there, to say the least. My concern now is that I think I had a twin. Should I bring this up with my mother? Or find some friends of the dead guy and ask them more about his history? As you can imagine, I’ve been in a real state for the past few weeks. Concerned

Dear Concerned

I understand you have been in a real state the last few weeks. Its time to get a grip.  Maybe you should find a friend of the dead guy to shed some light on your predicament. You may be more of  a dead ringer than you think. Hope this helps.

Adult Illegal Immigrants Posing As Unaccompanied Children Attempting High School Enrollment Going Old School

July 12, 2014

Adult illegal immigrants posing as unaccompanied alien children appear to be attempting to enroll at public high schools, city officials in Lynn, Mass., tell National Review Online.“Some of them have had gray hair and they’re telling you that they’re 17 years old and they have no documentation,” Jamie Cerulli, the Lynn mayor’s chief of staff, tells NRO. “If my children went to the public schools, I’d be very uncomfortable with all of these unaccompanied minors [that] are placed in the ninth grade.”The school system has turned away a handful of people who appeared too old, Latham says, but she’s suspicious of a quite a few other cases. Large Public Sector Union Cuts Ties With United Negro College Fund Bada Bing

July 11, 2014

A large public sector union says it is cutting ties with the United Negro College Fund over a donation it accepted from the Koch brothers, an act the union calls “a profound betrayal” to blacks. Lee Saunders, the president of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, or AFSCME, sent a letter Tuesday informing Michael Lomax, the president of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), that the union would be ending its partnership with the educational organization in September. The union is angry over a $25 million donation that UNCF accepted last month from the Koch brothers, Charles and David Koch. The billionaires are heavily involved in libertarian, conservative, and philanthropic causes — and have become big targets of Democrats and unions. Like many supporters of the UNCF, I was deeply troubled by your decision to accept $25 million from David and Charles Koch,” wrote Saunders, in a letter published by BuzzFeed. Heads turned when UNCF announced the large donation last month. Most of it — $18.5 million — is set to go towards a scholarship fund. Another $6.5 million will be directed to historically black colleges and universities and loan assistance programs.

Kaufman Family Stranded At Sea, Sue Phone Carrier, Obviously Ship For Brains

July 11, 2014

The parents who were stranded at sea with their two young daughters and had to be rescued by a U.S. Navy warship say they plan to sue their satellite phone carrier and hope any monetary winnings will allow them to help repay the government’s cost of their rescue. Kaufman and his wife, Charlotte, and their two daughters – ages 1 and 3 at the time – were some 900 nautical miles off the coast of Mexico aboard their 36-foot sailboat named the Rebel Heart last April when their daughter Lyra, 1, became sick with a fever and a rash. The Kaufmans allege their satellite phone carrier cut off their only connection to land while they were stranded. They used the Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) on their boat to call for help. We’re both experienced sailors,” said Charlotte, who described the planned 3,000-mile journey as not a trip but the family’s way of living. “We’ve raised our daughters on a sailboat.

Obama Skips Texas Border Visit Endorses A Womens Right To Choose

July 9, 2014

President Barack Obama is refusing to visit the turbulent U.S.-Mexican border, where a flood of illegal immigrants continues to overwhelm the region. Instead, Obama will visit the home of Austin-based filmmaker Robert Rodriguez this week as part of a trio of Texas fundraisers. The Austin visit features tickets ranging in price from $5,000 to $32,400. The July 9 fundraiser also will feature actors Rosario Dawson, Danny Trejo and Jessica Alba.

Both Trejo and Alba star in Rodriguez’s ultra-violent Machete franchise. The first film in the series demonized a politician (Robert De Niro) who sought tight border control as well as a Minuteman-style American who delighted in shooting a pregnant Mexican woman. Alba’s character, a champion for immigrants’ rights, utters the following line in the first Machete feature: “We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us.”

Obama skips border visit but visits Robert Rodriquez endorsing a womens right to choose whether on the left or right.
