Donald Sterling Nuclear Option Could Put Other NBA Owners Background Into Play

April 30, 2014

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who is about as forward-thinking as they come, has already expressed hesitance about voting Sterling out. Cuban invokes the “slippery slope” argument: “I think you’ve got to be very, very careful when you start making blanket statements about what people say and think, as opposed to what they do. It’s a very, very slippery slope.” Cuban is the only owner saying this at the moment, but there’s a good chance at least a quarter of the others are thinking it. Throwing out Sterling would set a precedent for confiscating a valuable asset on the basis of someone having expressing taboo thoughts and opinions. While it’s unlikely that any owner will soon match Sterling for ugly behavior, that’s not a proposition any will want to test.

Sterling lawyers could put the believes and actions  of  NBA owners past and present into play.

LA Clippers Less Filling Tastes Great As They Turn A $15M Profit Low Hanging Fruit

April 30, 2014

As for the ongoing finances for the team, a dozen sponsors announced on Monday they had ended or suspended sponsorship deals. But it’s not clear how many have actually stopped making payments to the team. Sports marketing consultant Marc Ganis said it’s unlikely that sponsor contracts would allow them to cancel due to comments made by Sterling or similar controversies. Even if the Clippers take a revenue hit, the team is well positioned to stay profitable. The team already turns a healthy profit on relatively low revenue, according to sports business experts. The Clippers brought in $128 million in annual revenue in the most recent year, according to the most recent estimates by Forbes. That places the team’s revenue near the bottom among the NBA’s 30 teams. But the Clippers still turned a $15 million profit, Forbes estimates. “This is a team that historically had low revenue and low attendance, and made money in spite of that,” said Ganis.

Sponsors continue to make payments, Clippers low hanging fruit for potential new owners.

Orlando Magic And Amway Owner Dick Devos Ready To Clean Up NBA Ownership

April 30, 2014

An overwhelming majority of NBA teams would vote for Donald Sterling to sell the Clippers, according to comments made Tuesday by numerous owners around the league. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver does not have the power alone to force Sterling to sell his franchise but an affirming vote from three-fourths of the league’s owners would cement the issue. It was unclear if Sterling was willing to part with his team. He could sue to keep it if the other 29 teams successfully voted him out. Orlando Magic owner Dan DeVos said his franchise was “behind Adam’s recommendation and plan[s] to vote accordingly” after Silver banned Sterling for life from the NBA and fined him $2.5 million Tuesday.

Ask The Eye Communicate or Spend A Night In The Box

April 29, 2014

Dear Eye View

Four years ago my mother-in-law had a stroke and lost the use of her right arm. She felt that she couldn’t use much of her jewelry anymore so she gave me a few of her pieces. Although the gesture was sweet, the jewelry was not my taste. I had kept it put away for many years, but finally this past winter, money was a little tight and I decided to sell some of my least favorite. I ended up using the money for groceries so we could have a little extra money for Christmas and a birthday for our youngest child. Just a month or so ago my mother-in-law called me up to asked if she could borrow for the very hoop earrings I sold and my heart sank! I told her the clasp was broken from a one time use and were unusable, and she left it at that. Then a couple of weeks ago she asked my husband if he remembered the heart necklace she gave me, he told her he did, she also asked for that back so she could wear it again. Well, I sold that one too! My husband has no idea I sold these items and I don’t think he would say anything about it if I told him. Now I’m hoping she doesn’t ask for it again, but I know she will. Do I fess up? Scared

Dear Scared

I understand your concern. Your mother- in- law gave you a gift with strings attached. You have lied about pawning the jewelry to your mother- in- law. You have failed to tell your husband you needed to pawn the jewelry to buy groceries. What we have here is an old fashioned FTC (failure to communicate). Tell your husband you sold his moms crappy jewelry and tell him to tell her to quit asking about it and you are running short on cash. Otherwise he spends a night in the box.

Mayim Bialik Supports Attachment Single Parenting

April 27, 2014

Mayim Bialik is again speaking out in defense of her “attachment parenting” style. “People laughed and sneered but it wasn’t wrong,” Bialik told InTouch of the critiques she received regarding her decision to breastfeed her son, Fred, until he was 4 years old and self-weaned. “Just because you do something your way doesn’t mean you can judge people who don’t. … I don’t think I’m a better mom and my kids aren’t necessarily better off than yours.” She told InTouch the criticism “made her cry.”“The way that I parent is the way thousands of women parent all over the world, but I get flak for it,” she said. “People say really mean things!” The “Big Bang Theory” star has long been a vocal proponent of attachment parenting, a phrase coined by Dr. William Sears, denoting a style of child-rearing that includes breastfeeding and co-sleeping. Bialik breastfed her two sons, Miles, 8, and Fred, now 5, until they were toddlers. Last February, she blogged about Fred self-weaning and called out those who doubted her choice to adopt extended breastfeeding.

Bialik blog reports “Well, nay-sayers, prepare to be proven wrong. All of you snarky mamas who glared at me nursing my 3 1/2-year-old on the NYC subway, prepare to be amazed. And to all of my family and friends who wanted to chastise me about nursing a walking, talking, thinking, laughing little man named Fred, thanks for holding your tongues. Because we did it. Fred isn’t going to nurse on his way down the wedding aisle or at his high school graduation. I didn’t need to break him of a “habit” and teach him “who’s in charge.” I didn’t need to set boundaries you thought I should have set when I didn’t want to set them”.

Eye View Hollywood For Actors and Politicians Muslim Women Are In Vogue

April 27, 2014

His bachelor days are over! George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are engaged.
A source with knowledge of the situation confirms Clooney popped the question and exclusively tells PEOPLE, “George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren’t really trying to hide this, it doesn’t seem. I think it’s like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever.”
The engagement happened “not that long ago, I think,” the source adds, and the couple don’t appear to have wedding plans in the works – yet.
For actors and politicians muslim women are hot. Is Clooney considering politics? Is Alamuddin getting a Weiner.
