As college football tries to get away from the controversy of the BCS, it’s created a whole new hornets nest with its selection committee for the new playoff, which begins in 2014. Namely, the selection of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Former Auburn coach Pat Dye is the latest to chime in on why Rice is the wrong person for the 12-to-18-person selection committee. “All she knows about football is what somebody told her,” Dye told the WJOX morning show, The Opening Drive. “Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television. To understand football, you’ve got to play with your hand in the dirt.”
Former Auburn coach and AD Pat Dye, responsible for 2 years of Auburn football probation, believes to be a successful college football playoff committee member, you need to have dirty hands.
